Writing- How do I Love Thee?

(My youngest when he was little- someone else who loves the written word... or is that his toes?)

Ahhh writing. Let me count the ways I love thee.

  1.  for making me embrace rejection- I love thee
  2. for forcing me to strip back the crap and write it real- I love thee
  3. for providing me with the term 'writer's block' so I don't have to say 'I'm afraid'- I love thee
  4. for introducing me to twitter, blogger, facebook and many other ways to avoid a blank page I must fill- I love thee
  5. for being my best excuse to be alone- I love thee
  6. for helping me understand my own thoughts- I love thee
  7. for all the lessons in humility (including the time I thought my first book was ready to query)- I love thee
  8. for expanding my horizons to include like minded people so I no longer question my sanity- I love thee
  9. for the sheer excitement of finishing 87,000 words without having burnt every dinner, neglecting the dog, forgetting where I put the children or filing for divorce- I love thee
  10. for daily giving me reason to push through my limitations- I love thee
AND finally...

11.  for being the vehicle through which I am seen, known and understood- I love thee

Happy valentines Day all :)

What about you? Tell me about what you love?

PS- Thank you to those who came by and left there best wishes when I was having a difficult Friday. I appreciate you all.

  1. Great post, Tabitha. I love the feeling of accomplishment when I finally finish writing something (even though I know I'm going to change it).

  3. What a great post! I love writing because it provides a much needed outlet for my creative energy. When I don't get to write (like last week), I get terribly grumpy.

  16. Well, you know I love writing, too. But I love my dog, who was at the vet for 48 hours and omg did I miss him. He is home now and much improved. I'm telling you, I was a basket case without him.

  18. Great post. I love the writing community and how we not only strive for our own successes with work to help other writes reach theirs. With that said, CONGRATULATIONS on winning the It Was A Dark and Stormy Blogfest Contest. It's well deserved! :D

  20. That's a very insightful list, and precisely what I expect to find on your blog. I love writing because it's who I am and I get to express that in infinite variety of ways.

  21. I love your Ode to Writing. I feel very similar. I also have a love affair with music. It's always there for me and measures my mood, doesn't judge, and helps me work out all my emotions and ponderings.

  22. You just ooze creativity and grace. I love that in you!

I love writing as well. The weaving of words to form a colorful, if imperfect tapestry, delights my soul like nothing else could.

  23. What a wonderful and unique list! I love oh so many things but writing is near the top of my list as well. I simply need to write...it's the way that I make sense of what I feel. I can't say how many times my mind has just been in a turmoil or I have been terribly upset and I sit down to write it out and when I am done, I feel like I understand myself better...I am better equipped to deal with the situation.

Happy Valentine's Day to you! I wish you much joy and love!

  24. Number 3 is my favorite. Brilliant view of Writer's Block.

I love words and books and life in all it's madness.

Happy Valentine's Day (a bit belated)
