Here's to the Crazy Ones

"Here’s to the crazy ones.
The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes.
The ones who see things differently.

They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo.
You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them.
About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things.

They invent. They imagine. They heal. They explore. They create. They inspire. They push the human race forward.

Maybe they have to be crazy.
How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art? Or sit in silence and hear a song that’s never been written? Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels?

While some see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do."

What about you? They say you have to be crazy? Do you dare?

  4. Most people looked at me like I had two heads when I first shared my dream of starting a Christian women's magazine. Now we're on our 50th issue. It's the crazy people who get things done in life!!!

  7. Well, you know me, Tab. I'm all about following the rules! (cough cough)

Okay okay. I guess I'm like the song about the gal who won't ride on double decker buses because there is no driver on the top. :-p

  10. P.S. I LOVE the title of this. You should write a book and title it, Here's to the Crazy Ones. I love it so much I'd buy the book just because the title intrigues me!

  11. Wow.

  12. I suppose since my blog is called Crazy Jane (a series of poems by Yeats inspiring it) I have to admit to an affinity for that state of mind. Having worked with the truly crazy, however, I know that there are meanings and meanings to be derived from this word. I believe in the 'crazy wisdom' of the lineage of Buddhist teachers I follow. They believe that is insane not to see the world as it isn't. Does that make sense? I thought not. Jan Morrison

  13. Here's to them all! Cheers!

Crazy, perhaps, but imaginative like a child, I think that's a definite yes!!!

  14. It's interesting, because I'm a trying-to-be-faithful Catholic, and some might view that as someone who fits into the box, a round peg in a round hole. But I've always been feisty. I don't follow rules well unless I understand them. Coming to an understanding of the rules and only then embracing them wholeheartedly has been part of my faith journey, and so freeing. But in so many ways, I'm still that square peg. And as a faithful Catholic (trying, anyway), I often feel like I'm living a constantly counter-cultural sort of life.

I LOVED the picture -- that is great! Good find!

  17. I'm reading a book about the craziness of the great writers. There's no way I can compete with them. They must've been geniuses because they wrote through alcoholism, drug addiction, and many other things that would derail me. I like getting 8 hours of sleep.

  21. I've had my crazy times for sure and internally I'm quite daft, but fear usually causes me to keep it in. Society, jobs, family expectations, etc. usually keep me in check. One day the wackinesss will break loose. At least I have my blog where I could get a little off-centered if I really wanted to.

  22. Does loner oddball and social misfit fit the bill? If so count me crazy too! Great post Tabitha!

  23. It's not that people who want to change the world are crazy, it's that they are different. They might have crazy goals, but those are individually set.

Maybe looking at it from a different angle, I guess to go against the world might also seem crazy to a lot of people, because it's one person against billions, right? Changing the world is a hard task that not a single person can do. It's almost impossible.

So, maybe that's why we are crazy. We face the impossible and try to make it possible. We face the world so that our dreams may come alive even when faced with opposition by so many.

And I guess if I seem crazy to want to do the things that I love, which is to become a well-known writer and become a success, then label me crazy.

Write on, Tabitha! This was a thought-provoking post!
