Congrats Elana! And thanks to everyone who entered.
GIVEAWAY # 2
This time I am giving away a copy of an Australian Classic. The best loved children's picture book Possum Magic by Mem Fox.
I adore Mem.
I have been to see many of her lectures about both teaching children to read and also the joy of writing for children. She rocks and so do her books. This was one of the many great Australian picture books I took with me when I taught overseas. It never failed to get a smile. I know you guys will love this picture book too!

That's a tough one! My favorite picture book? How about old school? Harold and the Purple Crayon! Or wait, no. I change my mind. The Eleventh Hour by Graeme Base. That's excellent!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Elana! My favorite picture book? You'd think I'd have one with all the reading I do with my children! I think the best one is Goodnight Gorilla. My babies love it so much we have had to fix the spine twice, and there are so few words (nothing other than 'Goodnight!') that I can change the story every time!
ReplyDeleteWriting Prompt Wednesdays today on my blog!

Wooohooo for Elana!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't remember liking a particular picture book as a kid, but I've always had a fascination for Where the Wild Things Are. I'd love to get that book for my kids someday. :-)
That's easy. My favorite is "The Runaway Bunny" by Margaret Wise Brown. Have a carrot. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh, no too many to choose from. My favorite as a child was Green Eggs and Ham. My favorite now is a great sleeper pb called 'Things Could Always Be Worse'.
ReplyDeleteconrats Elana!!
Congratultions Elana!
ReplyDeleteTab- you must know that I am morbidly afraid of possums. Really, very afraid.
Congratulations Elana.
ReplyDeleteThe one I remember most is Goodnight Moon, but I'm not running for the giveaway since my kids are grown and I have no grandkids.

Congrats Elana. My favourite picture book is A-B-C by Dr. Seuss because I read that book so many times to my son I have it memorized.
ReplyDeleteBig C, Litle C What begins with C - Camel on the Ceiling C C C
I'll refrain from reciting the whole book.
Yea Elana!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite picture book is called Tell Me a Real Adoption Story, by Betty Jean Lifton...that I purchased before our daughter arrived, but when we knew she was coming. Not only is it a lovely tale, the book almost mirrored our daughter's story so that it was easy to transition to the real story as we read the book. Second choice? We are Going on a Bear Hunt by Helen Oxenbury.
Oh, lovely new contest! My fave picture book is -Love you Forever- by Rober Munsch.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Elana!
COngrats Elana! And my fav? Goodnight moon! I read it millions of times to all my children. I love the colors and the words. Simple like me ;)
ReplyDeleteAhhh! Thanks so much! You're the best!
ReplyDeleteI won't enter again. :) Have a great day!
Congrats Elana! I'll have to say "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle - because my son loved it so much we wore the book ragged!
ReplyDeleteHmm, My kids love Mo Willems KNUFFLE BUNNY and KNUFFLE BUNNY TOO. They're really funny. I like I LOVE YOU STINKY FACE. It's a sweet little book.
ReplyDeleteCongrats Elana! I`m so into picture books right now because I have a 12 month old. When I was a kid, I loved everything Robert Munch, and Peter Cottontail and Winnie the Pooh.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter loves Goodnight Moon and Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes illustrated by Barbara Reid, and she can`t get enough of the touchy feely books - especially the ABC Bear book.
There is also a great series, the busy books by John Schindel. Titles include Busy Bear Cubs, Busy Chickens and Busy Pandas. I love this series because they have real pictures of baby animals doing things like running, sniffing and snuggling. My daughter loves these books too.
The boys and I have loved reading the Skippy Jon Jones books together, any Dr. Seuss, especially the Sneetches and What was I scared of? (the one about the pale green pants with nobody inside them.)
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Elana! I love picture books. Mercer Mayer's are easy for children to read and they're fun. I also love the Pigeon books (Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!). Too cute!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Elana! Hmmmm. I would have to say the Good Dog, Carl series. Fabulously funny, and suitable from age three or four to...ninety!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats Elana!
ReplyDeletePossum Magic is a beautiful book. I also like the Eleventh Hour and Where the Wild Things Are, but for some reason Dr. Seuss's simple The People House always sticks in my head. I read that one and the Cat in the Hat over and over again when I was a kid.
Woohoo!!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite picture book--brer rabbit! :0)
Sweet win, Elana!
ReplyDeleteMy fave pic book is "Traction man is here." If you haven't read it yet, run out quick to your local library or book store. You won't be disappointed.
Congratulations Elana.
ReplyDeleteYAY to Elana!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy fave pic book is Mem Fox's Time for Bed - I don't own Possum Magic ... I'd love it in my collection :) xx
My (i.e. Isaac's) favourite picture book is 'Ten Apples Up on Top'. He especially likes that mummy can keep 'reading' it to him on the way to bed after she's put the book away :)
ReplyDeleteMy favourite page is (in very excited voice):
They will get them if we let them
Come, we cannot let them get them
My daughter just likes any book she can eat, including Possum Magic which she thinks has lovely, scrunchy pages.
Oh, I love Mem Fox. Used to look for reasons to read them to my fifth graders. It was easier with third graders. She's a wonder in more ways than one.
