If you Dance

(photograph:photobucket.com)

I find it difficult to cast my cares. To close my eyes, stick my tongue out and taste the rain. To slip on those yellow heels and dance like all the world is my music.

Not in my imagination of course. There I am a winged bird.

But in reality, I ache to let go. To wallpaper my photographs all over a feature wall. To buy the pea-green dress one inch too short. To tell my mother what I'm really thinking. To trust someone enough to let them near. To whisper those things that have happened in my past and then set them sailing out to sea on paper lanterns.

These things are not in my imagination. They are apart of the skin I wear and the reason, I suppose, that I am not yet brave enough to shed it. It would be like losing a part of myself.
And then I think...
                              perhaps that's the point.

What about you? Do you Dance?

  1. No. I'm too clumsy to dance, but this is how I feel when I run. :D

  2. Yes, I dance. I try to everyday. And I don't mean literally. :)

  3. I hope you'll live your own song and wear that pea green dress one day, and let it become a part of your skin :)

  4. I dance, Just when no one is watching. My parents danced and traveled across the country watching competitions and entering a few. But I think that dancing DNA skipped a generation. Hopefully, my kids will have it.

  5. I hope you dance and let your spirit free.

Me? Most definitely! I thought the world ended when I went deaf and woke up to realize it was just beginning. Life is too short to wait for the right moment to dance in the rain and jump in a mud puddle. I want to feel every moment and taste it in my soul. (Hugs)Indigo

  6. I just cannot dance. But, I have other ways to let my spirit soar. Loved the picture and the post.

  7. I have a refrigerator magnet I love, that says: "I fall down, I get back up, I try again. Meanwhile, keep dancing."

  8. I believe I do :) Certainly a lot more than I ever have in my life before. I just how well I'm doing at it by how much my kids cringe when I do something I desperately want to and that frightens me a little :)

  10. Tabitha, I used to dance a lot with my kids. I've lost a little of that, but I dance a lot in my heart. Letting go is a good thing, but it is a process. You're exactly where you need to be. But if you a see a dance floor anytime soon, I hope you'll go for it. :)

  11. Gorgeous photo! I try to dance. Usually figuratively, but lately, literally. It can be hard to let go. I find that the right music helps with both the literal and figurative release.

I echo what @Joanne and @Roxane said. I think the realization that you want to let go is a big first step. :)

  12. As always, I'm enriched when I read your beautiful prose.

Wear the green dress AND the yellow heels and dance. You'll be so beautiful.
