strawberry kisses from my fruit lipped boys, blankie cuddles, wake up smiles
sleepy eyes, bedtime stories
soft words bathed in morning light, baby toes and boyhood pockets filled with sand
sleepy eyes, bedtime stories
soft words bathed in morning light, baby toes and boyhood pockets filled with sand
I give thanks for;
rain and reflections in glassy puddles, the chance to look, the time to wonder, long days and even longer afternoons that don't fade with the setting sun
I give thanks for;
dinner tables filled with chatter, home filled with the sound of them, mismatched shoes, and even missing socks because it means my family surrounds me
I give thanks for;
Him, for be held and holding on, for a reason to continue, a purpose to build hope on, someone who I know is looking for me even before I admit I am lost
I give thanks for;
life and living
for them
for us
and for the ability to stop
and say thank you
with a grateful heart

ReplyDeleteWendy, I share your joy girl. And I am thankful for wonderful people like you too :)
Thanks for sharing your beautiful list! My heart is full with the sweet smiles of my four year old, the giggles of my other daughters, the warm hugs of my son, and backrubs from hubby. My family fills my life!
ReplyDeleteAll beautiful things to be thankful for. Family is my #1 gift, too!!
ReplyDeleteoh, so caught up in life, we can forget to sit and ponder what we are thankful for, I love your line, "someone who I know is looking for me even before I admit I am lost"
ReplyDeleteI am grateful for the time I have to stare at my girl, to hug my husband and for the first time to swallow the world around me. I am grateful for blog followers who are so under my skin that I pray for them (and their friends) at night, amazed at how open and rich my life is becoming. Tabitha, wishing you a happy Thanksgiving, because every day we have things to be thankful for.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful visions here Tabitha, and how lucky you, that they are your reality. Miss those young moments. But I am thankful for grown up boys too, a house full of half men burping and howling at the ball game, tossing the football and still calling me Momma.
ReplyDeleteI'm thankful for my family and my life. I feel so blessed! Hope you have a wonderful day down there. LOL
ReplyDeleteI am thankful for being given life. For the chance to live and experience living *dance*
ReplyDeleteI am thankful too, for you having found me!
Thankful for you my friend.

Tabitha, I'm still praying for your friend. I'm thankful that you are there to support her.
ReplyDeleteMy, this is like a refreshing bathe in liquid sunlight after all the complaints and envy entangling the days. I'm a Brit, haha, so I don't celebrate Thanksgiving officially, but I've always thought it was such a delightful holiday.
ReplyDeletePeople these days seem set to be discontented with everything, but there is always some secret smile, some squeeze of the hand, some sliver of blue sky to be thankful about. You are just such a lovely person to realise all these things, I think that if everyone immersed themselves in your beautiful words, they would come out angels. :)

Baby toes are an amazing thing. I also love to see toddler footprints in the sand. It's one of those images for me that is a reason to continue. Though sometimes my world is dark, I am always thankful for the light and the people, like you, who bring it. I am thankful for the goodness in people, despite their sorrows and fears. I am thankful for sun on water, wind through leaves, rain on parched ground and lightning storms. I love this planet in all its terror and glory.
ReplyDeleteYour picture melted me and your words made me smile. How special is you gift!
ReplyDeleteBTW, I sent you book and didn't even die trying (a nod towards my post a few fridays ago. Book giveaways can be dangerous you know ;)
ADORED that. Sounds like you're surrounded by a lot of love. I'm thankful for a lot in my life right now, but I cant summarize as beautifully as you did. Happy Thanksgiving anyway. :)

ReplyDeleteBeautiful post, Tabitha! I'm going to play along too even though I'm technically not in the Thanksgivers club.
ReplyDeleteI am thankful for friends and family, for sunshine and blue skies, for good health, for beautiful words, and eyes and a mind to understand them. I am thankful for the promise that I'll never be alone.
Oh and I'm thankful for your post - it made me take a moment to reflect, and I'm glad. :)
Lovely post, Tabitha - as always. Just another reason why you deserve the Humane Award, with which I've honored you on my blog. Congrats and happy Turkey Day!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I hope that your girlfriend is doing okay. What a terrible situation - I certainly hope her kids are returned to her soon.
Beautiful reflections of thanks. :)
